Endodontics - Root Canal

Endodontics is a specialized field of dentistry that deals with the tooth pulp and tissues surrounding the root of a tooth.  Some treatments include root canal therapy and root canal surgery.  Specialists in this field have experience in successfully treating patients who are experiencing pain.

Prosthodontics

This field is the specialization in the restoration of oral function, esthetic, and reconstructive dentistry.  Prosthodontists create prostheses and restorations which include complete dentures, crowns, implant retained/supported restorations.

Due to extensive training, prosthodontists are frequent1y called upon to treat complex cases, full mouth reconstructions, TMJ related disorders, congenital disorders, and sleep apnea by planning and fabricating various prostheses and orthotyic appliances.

Crowns & Bridges

When teeth are damaged due to injury or decay, crowns can be used to repair them.  Crowns slip over the damaged tooth like a jacket.  They can fix cracks and cover teeth damaged by significant decay.  All porcelain crowns can be matched to the original color of the teeth so they look completely natural.  Crowns can also be used for purely cosmetic reasons - to reshape or realign a person's teeth.

Dentures

Complete dentures are used to replace missing teeth for people with no remaimng teeth.  Dentures may also be used for people who have lost several teeth.  In this case, the appliance is called a partial denture or an overdenture.  We specialize in implant supported/retained dentures.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are used to replace missing teeth, the loss of which might adversely affect your mouth.  The negative effects of one or more missing teeth could include the shifting of other teeth, a change in the bite, TMJ disorders, a speech impediment, an increased risk for periodontal disease, and a greater chance of tooth decay.

Periodontics

This branch of dentistry focuses on the supporting structures of teeth (gums, bone, and ligaments) as well as the diseases and conditions that affect them.  The periodontist specializes in the management of patients with gum recession and surgical placement of implants.  Periodontal diseases take on many different forms, but are usually a result of bacterial infection of the gums.  Untreated, it often leads to tooth loss and bone loss.

The type of treatment recommended for a gum disease sufferer varies depending upon the severity of the condition.  After a thorough professional cleaning your dentist will determine a course of treatment for your gums.  Sometimes all that is needed is improved dental hygiene and antibiotics to treat bacteria housed in the pocketed areas of the gum.  Your dentist may recommend a medicated mouthwash to be used as a regular part of your regimen.  For advanced gum disease additional procedures can be employed such as bone and soft tissue regeneration and also pocket elimination surgery.
